Equine Assisted Learning can help you manage stress and anxiety through coaching and mindfulness techniques. We will work together to identify your stress triggers and develop coping strategies to help you achieve a more balanced and peaceful life.
Horses are masters at processing information and letting it go. They are sentient beings that experience fear, joy, anger, confusion, loss…ect. The difference between them and humans is that humans will follow their thoughts and have emotional responses to them.
I can help you slow down the process and untangle the knots of “whatever” or “why bother” and my personal favorite “yeah but…”. These stick-in-the-mud voices in our heads can create feelings of defeat before you even get started. Through mindfulness and present moment awareness we’re able to recognize feelings or emotions that are coming up which take away our focus. Once we’re aware of that happening then we have options. Choices arise giving us more freedom to choose what we want to do about it.
Horses teach us that if you take the time to do it then it takes less the time.
By slowing down and connecting to what we’re actually feeling in the moment we learn about what’s actually getting in the way.
As prey animals, their lives depend on working together as a herd and being in tune to their environment. They are masters of utilizing intuition and present moment awareness. Not to mention the need to work together as a team. All of which are important for us as humans to cultivate in our own lives. We all carry layers of past hurts or traumas, fears and anxieties which can get lost in our human nature as a means to protect ourselves. These layers over time can start to distort our perceptions of the world and our role in it. Horses can get right to the heart of the matter by helping you uncover those layers to get to the truth of what might be holding you back from a fulfilled self actualized life.
We all have areas in our lives that could use some attention. Be it career, personal or professional goals, love/intimacy, environment, family, personal relationships, et al. As an Equine Specialist I observe horse behavior and your interactions with them. I will ask questions about what you are experiencing based on what I see in these interactions. As a Life Coach I listen to what you want to discover and can help guide you through that exploration. We focus on the present and look towards future by setting goals, defining your values and keeping you accountable for them. When you discover what’s important to you, what you value what your truth is, there is a clarity and ease in moving forward. It’s a step in the best direction on the path that you set forth to take in any area of your life.
Horses are reflective by nature. They will mirror the behavior and attitudes of the person with whom they are working which can provide a hands on experience through connectedness and non-verbal communication.
They teach you to be more authentic with your emotions and congruent with your actions with zero judgment from them. They simply give you an honest look at whatever you’re dealing with in your life.
Equine Assisted Learning explores personal growth and development through a form of experiential learning. We learn by doing. By getting into our bodies and actually experience what it's like to work through our feelings in real time. Because of horses being so reflective they often reflect certain aspects of ourselves or some dynamic that might be appearing in our lives.
Even something as simple as brushing a horse requires a conversation around trust and boundaries.
